|Case Study||Silica Gel Research Laboratory|
|client||Silica Gel Research Laboratory|
|challenge||New research laboratory|
|solution||Signed up to a project charter to set out key objectives|
|benefit||Overall project cost reduction|
|challenge||To create a two-storey Research Laboratory to replace an existing outdated facility.
The heavily serviced project was to be undertaken despite the overall budget being significantly reduced.
Our project scope covered all mechanical services including 22 fume cupboards and fully air-conditioned laboratories with a total value of £1 million.
|solution||We, as part of the client's design team, signed up to a project charter to set out key objectives for
the smooth running of the project.
The Charter created an open non-confrontational environment beneficial to all parties and was an essential ingredient particularly with the restricted budget.
|benefit||Using value engineering, teamwork, and a risk/reward strategy, we contributed to an overall
project cost reduction satisfying the client’s budget without compromising their main project
Our work was undertaken over a 12-month period, was within budget, on schedule and is a showcase facility for the client.
